Magento Enterprise 1.14 Released & Fully Responsive

The next version of Magento Enterprise Edition, v1.14, was  announced today at Magento Imagine. Scheduled to be available immediately, the biggest news is that the default theme is now fully responsive. This theme is based on the latest technologies – CSS3, HTML5 and jQuery, making it the first major update to Magento Enterprise’s default theme in years, and making the default theme a viable option to launch a modern, cutting-edge store on.

Magento Enterprise 1.14 also includes built-in support for financing by adding a payment option for Bill Me Later, and offers a much more streamlined checkout process via PayPal Express Checkout. These changes have been proven to provide an 18% or better increase in sales.

In an Enterprise-exclusive improvement, the search indexing process has been completely revamped. Similar to the other indexing improvements found in Enterprise 1.13, this will greatly increase the performance of these indexers, especially on larger sites with a large number of products or categories. The bottom line to this improvement is that the time between when you make a change in your Magento admin panel and when it’s available to searchers on your site is greatly, greatly reduced.

Magento has also announced that there will be additional updates to the Magento 1 branch this year, including features, quality improvements and security enhancements, meaning that current Magento users and those building a new site for launch this year should continue to use Magento 1.

Magento Enterprise 1.14 also contains a large number of security enhancements and closes a number of security vulnerabilities present in versions of Magento Enterprise ranging from 1.13 and older. So, if you’re running a Magento Enterprise site, it’s very important that you upgrade to Magento 1.14 as soon as possible.

If you’re considering launching a new Magento Enterprise site, now is the perfect time to start planning how to take advantage of these new features, and if you’re on Magento Enterprise already, it’s important to upgrade soon. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Creatuity, as we’d love to help you launch a new site or upgrade your existing site!
