Pinterest Buyable Pins are Coming to the Web
Last year, Pinterest released Buyable Pins, which made it easy for users to buy products straight on the Pinterest app. This began to change the way users and merchants viewed the app, making a shift towards becoming more of a shopping platform. Today on their blog, Pinterest announced that the same concept will now be available on desktop! Along with that comes a few new features to the platform…
Pinterest Gets a New Button
You may have started seeing a few little changes on Pinterest if you’re an avid user. Instead of displaying the “Pin It” button that we have all grown accustomed to, Pinterest has been rolling out a change to make the “Pin It” button now a “Save” button. Since majority of Pinterest users are from outside the United States, they want to make sure that the app and website are easy for anyone to use, no matter where you live in the world.
Getting a New Save Button
If you are a merchant who currently has a button on your website, you’ll want to check yours to make sure they have changed to the new “Save” button. If they have, you are all set and have nothing to worry about! However, if you are not seeing the change, you’ll need to update your button.
New “Add to Bag” Feature
Pinterest will also now have an “add to bag” feature which makes it simple for shoppers to build a cart on Pinterest and easily check out when they are ready to do so. This new cart will work cohesively on all views – both desktop and mobile. This means that if you add something to your cart on mobile and then add something else on desktop later, both items will be in your cart and ready for you to purchase!
Shopping on Pinterest
Pinterest has partnered with 20,000 merchants to bring over 50 million unique products to their platform. There are now a couple different ways that users can shop on Pinterest – one is by heading to the search option on Pinterest and clicking the blue “Shop” button on the list of categories. This will bring you to all the Buyable Pin products that are available to purchase.
The second way to shop Buyable Pins is by going straight to your favorite brand’s Pinterest profile. If they are currently utilizing Buyable Pins, you will be able to click a blue “Shop Pins from XYZ Brand” button at the top of their profile and shop their Buyable Pins. You’re even able to find new arrivals, sale items, shipping deals and change the price points with the new filtering system.
New Ways to Search
Pinterest is also rolling out a new way to search within a Pin to find products. Now, people can tap the visual search icon at the top of any Pin and explore the dots to see similar Pins. (Pinterest has a good demo of this on their blog)
Buyable Pins Extension for Magento
Pinterest Buyable Pins have been available on a few platforms and has most recently become available to merchants running on Magento! To implement Buyable Pins for Magento, you’ll need to fill out an application and then be onboarded by Pinterest. After you’ve been accepted into the program, Pinterest will send you instructions on how to proceed. You will then need to purchase and install the Pinterest Buyable Pins extension for Magento, built by our development team here at Creatuity.
